FW-Series Friction Washer

High-speed friction between the rotor and the plastic strips oil, glue and soil from flake surfaces — the stage that decides whether the final granulate is clean enough to sell.

Function

Why friction, not just rinsing

Rinsing removes loose dirt. Adhered oil, label adhesive and compacted soil need mechanical friction against the polymer surface, combined with spray rinsing.

Friction washer rotor and perforated screen

Design

Friction rotor with replaceable paddles, perforated screen and high-pressure spray bars.

Position in line

Placed between crushing and float-sink separation, or between washing stages.

Washed flakes after friction washer

Effect

Oil, glue and soil lifted from the surface, then carried away by the spray water.

Process

Selection points

Three variables decide whether a friction washer does its job in your line.

Pre-crushing size

Material should be pre-crushed, typically to 10-30 mm; too coarse reduces cleaning, too fine complicates separation.

Capacity match

Match washer capacity to the upstream crusher so it does not become the bottleneck.

Number of units

Larger lines use two or three washers in series to reach the required cleanliness.

Rinse water

Spray rinse after friction carries the released contamination away.

FAQ

Common questions

How many friction washers does a line need?

Small lines use one; larger or heavily contaminated lines use two or three in series. The number is set by the cleanliness target for your output.

Can it remove label glue?

Yes — adhesive residue left after de-labeling is one of the main things friction washing removes, together with oil and soil.

What water consumption should I plan for?

2-4 m3/h on FW-500 rising to 8-12 m3/h on FW-1200, depending on model and rinse intensity.

Is hot water required?

For oily material, heated wash liquor improves results. Whether heat is needed for your feed is confirmed in a material test.
