Appliance Plastics Recycling Line

WEEE housings are a mixed engineering-plastic stream with screws, inserts and foam attached. The line removes metal first, then crushes and washes by polymer group.

Scope

Mixed polymers, attached metal

Fridges, washing machines, air conditioners and small appliances arrive as complete housings. Metal removal before crushing protects the blades and keeps the plastic fraction clean.

Material fit

ABS, HIPS/PS, PP, PA and PC housings, inner liners, drawers and structural parts.

Contamination handled

Screws, metal inserts, foam, rubber seals, dust and printed labels.

Washed and separated appliance plastic flakes

Output quality

Washed flakes separated by polymer group, ready for granulation or compounding.

Polymer separation scope (density, electrostatic or optical) depends on the housing mix and is confirmed after a material study.

Process

Process sequence

Metal first, size second, separation last.

Dismantling and feed

Housings are stripped of cables and large metal parts.

Metal removal

Ferrous and non-ferrous fractions are taken out before crushing.

Controlled crushing

Washing

Friction washing removes dust, foam residue and labels.

Density separation

Floating and sinking polymer groups are split.

FAQ

Common questions

Can different polymers be processed on one line?

Yes — but separation scope has to be designed in. Density separation splits some groups; electrostatic or optical sorting is added where the mix demands it.

Why remove metal before crushing?

Screws and inserts damage blades and contaminate the plastic fraction, so metal removal sits ahead of the crusher.

Is washing always required for appliance plastics?

Not always. Clean industrial scrap can go straight to granulation; post-consumer housings normally need washing to remove dust and foam residue.

What size flake can the line produce?

The PS-series crusher uses interchangeable screens to set flake size for the downstream granulator.
